Neil Citron grew up in a musical household, thanks to his mother Kitty who sang in barbershop quartets and by playing the clarinet. His cousin Howard Leese, most famously known for playing guitar in Heart, one day gave some friendly advice where Neil decided to quit playing the clarinet and picked up the guitar. While playing at a venue, Greg Ladonne told Neil to choose a backup career in exchange to teach him how to produce music, beginning his career in music production.
When Neil first came across ADAM speakers, he wanted to get them, but thought he could not afford them. After doing so he came to the realization that he could not have afforded not to buy them. The S3V has changed his mixing process just by changing to a 3-way speaker, it’s as if he went from a VW Bug to a Ferrari. The sound is so clear that the vocals and instruments do not overpower each other, but work in melody with each other.
“If I like something, I buy it and I support it. If I don’t like it you can’t give it to me, I’m not using it. And that’s the only way you can work in this business for more than five seconds. If you start taking stuff that you don’t really want just so you can say ‘look what I got’ you’re pretty much over.” – Neil Citron
